Privacy & cookie policy
Last updated 1 November 2026
QueueNAME is run by OARC, Inc. It replaces the microphone line-up at our events with a shared online queue. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site handles, who can see it, how long we keep it, and which cookies it uses.
What we collect
Apart from the ordinary web server logs described below, the only personal information the site collects is what you type into it:
- Your name and affiliation, so the moderator can call on you.
- Your question, if you choose to type it rather than ask it at the microphone. Remote attendees must type their question.
- Your seat number, if the event asks for one.
- Whether you are attending in person or remotely.
Alongside that, the site records the time you joined the queue and a random key that identifies your browser (see Cookies below). The key is a random string; it is not derived from anything about you or your device.
Like any web server, the server that hosts the site keeps logs of the requests it receives. Those logs include the IP address your connection comes from, the pages you request, the time, and the type of browser you use. They do not include anything you type into the queue form.
Organizers who run events have accounts on the site. For them we store a username and a hashed password.
How we use it and who can see it
Your entry is stored in the site's database so it can be shown to the people running the event. For the duration of the event it is visible to the moderators, organizers, and volunteers who help conduct the meeting, including OARC, Inc. staff and contractors. We use it only to run the Q&A session.
We never sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it with third parties except as described on this page.
How long we keep it
- If you leave the queue before your question is dealt with, your entry is deleted immediately. Moderators can also delete an entry at any time.
- We will endeavour to delete all personal information (names, affiliations, seat numbers and question text) from the database within 90 days of the end of the event.
- Organizers can export anonymised statistics, which we may keep indefinitely: how many questions were raised for each talk, when they were submitted and resolved, whether each was answered or skipped, and whether it came from an in-person or remote attendee. Your name, affiliation, seat number and the text of your question are not part of this export or archive.
- Web server logs are kept for a limited time for troubleshooting and security, then deleted.
Services we rely on
The icons on this site are loaded from Font Awesome's servers. When your browser fetches them, Font Awesome's servers see your IP address and the address of the page you are on, just as with any web request. Font Awesome does not set cookies through this site. Their privacy policy describes how they handle that information.
The site does not use any analytics, advertising, or social media services.
Your choices
You decide what to type. To join the queue you need to give a name and an affiliation, and remote attendees need to type their question; you may use whatever name you are comfortable having read out in the room. You can leave the queue at any time and your entry is deleted. If you would like to know what we hold about you, or want it removed sooner, email us at admin@dns-oarc.net.
Cookies
A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to store and send back with later requests. It lets the site recognise your browser from one page load to the next.
This site sets one cookie, and only when it is needed. Browsing the queue page or the display view does not set it; joining the queue or opening the organizer login page does. It is a functional cookie, required for the site to work, so we do not ask for consent to set it. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies, and the site does not store anything in your browser's local storage.

QueueNAME | Functional, required | Holds the random key that matches your browser to the question you submitted, so the page can show your place in the queue and let you leave it. For organizers it also holds their login and a token that protects their forms from being submitted by other sites. It never contains your name, affiliation, or question. It is signed so it cannot be altered, and it is marked so that scripts on the page cannot read it. | When you close your browser |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If this one is blocked or deleted after you join the queue, the page can no longer show your place in the queue or let you leave it, and organizers cannot stay logged in.
